Stephanie & Kevin

Last Sunday night I met up with Stephanie and Kevin to do their engagement pictures. They are getting married this spring in St. Lucia! Oh la la! We started off out west and worked our way towards downtown Knoxville …stopping in Sequoyah Hills and the Market Square parking garage along the way. I had such a great time with these two. They were up for anything and they didn’t complain once…even after I told them repeatedly, “this is the last shot, I promise” (and it really wasn’t).

Blakely, Skylar, & Zack

Last Sunday morning I got to hang out with 3 very fun kids – Blakely, Skylar, & Zack. We headed over to the park about 9:30am to hang out, play and get some pictures but it was freezing outside! The kids still did a great job! All three of them are absolutely adorable and have very fun and different personalities! We eventually ended up back at their house to work on puzzles, jump on theirs beds and play dress up! Here are a few of my favorites from the day… I took me a long time to narrow down my favorites… there were so many.  Thank you for spending your morning with me Leigh, Joe, Blakely, Skylar and Zack!!

Zack was not happy…so we decided to work with his frown. haha.

Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.

Sorry I was having a Fleetwood Mac flashback!

So, last night I finished my to do list and decided that I needed to get to bed early for once (and by early, I mean midnight).  As soon as I laid down, the dog started barking and running around the house trying to get to a window. John and I jumped out of bed and made our way to the window, only to find our pumpkins had been taken! The kids had just carved the pumpkins on Monday night and were so excited to display them out front! They even poured salt on the ground last night to keep the slugs away from their beloved pumpkin masterpieces. John hopped in the car and drove around the neighborhood in hopes of finding the people responsible, but they were long gone… leaving only a trail of smashed up mailboxes and broken pumpkins in the road.  This morning I knew I had to come up with something to tell the children. They share my passion for Halloween but they are still young and afraid of bad people and scary monsters. John and I didn’t think it would be right to tell them that some bad people came and took their pumpkins because that would only freak them out. Instead, I decided to tell them a much happier tale of a family of 4 that didn’t have enough money to buy their own pumpkins and asked if they could have ours. I also mentioned that this family was very impressed with the faces carved on the pumpkins (which the kids had drawn and cut out themselves).  I apologized to the children for giving away their pumpkins and told them that I would replace them this evening. Before I could even finish my sentence Cade looked up at me and said, “Mom, it’s okay…they don’t have any money…they can have our pumpkins”.  I feel terrible for lying to my children about what happened but I must say that I couldn’t be more proud of the response that Cade gave me.

Sneak Peeks!

I am on a roll tonight!! It is 3am and I am about to go to sleep but I wanted to post a sneak peek from my sessions this weekend.  Sunday morning I got to hang out with 3 awesome kids! Blakely, Skylar & Zack. They were alot of fun and I cannot wait to post the rest of their pictures.

Sunday evening, I met up with Stephanie & Kevin for a fun engagement session. We ran all over town! I thank both of them for their patience!! I cannot wait to post the rest of their images as well. Stay tuned I have alot left to blog!!

Brooke & Trey

Wow! Is the only thing I can say about this bride and groom. They both knocked me off of my feet. Brooke for her craftiness and Trey for his dance moves! Brooke made both of her wedding dresses, the cake topper, her wedding invitations, Trey’s suit AND she was going to make her shoes as well but she ran out of time! Everything she did looked fantastic! Not only is Brooke unbelievably creative; she is also a great swing dancer…as is Trey. Most of the guests were swing dancers as well, so the dancing at the reception was unreal. I was so in awe of the great dancing, I had to remind myself to take pictures a few times. I also kept getting the urge to run out onto the dance floor and start dancing, although that would have been embarassing for me and everyone watching. So I decided to spare the guests my dance moves.

Congratulations Brooke & Trey!! And a HUGE thank you to Mk McKenna for having me as a second shooter all weekend. I had a great time!!!

Courtney’s dad came to help her get ready…I thought that was very cute.

Trey made the best faces all day. He was cracking me up.

As I was leaving to drive back to Knoxville, I found their getaway car….trashed! haha.

Courtney & Tom

Two weekends ago I made the long haul up to Maryland to second shoot for the fabulously fantastic MK McKenna. She had 3 weddings in one weekend! And she had them all blogged within a week of the wedding! She is super woman! Make sure you check out her blog!

I really enjoyed meeting MK and both of her couples – who were both super sweet. I am going to start with Courtney & Tom though since they were married first. The ceremony was held at River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Bethesda, MD. After the cermony, we boarded the shuttle and headed over to Glen Echo Park for the reception. Glen Echo Park is such a cool place. There were so many neat places to shoot there. Aside from it being a little chilly outside (and me being ill prepared for cold weather), the day went off without a hitch. Congratulations Courtney & Tom! I had such a great time documenting your special day with MK!

Courtney wore a very cool pink dress with silver sparkly ballet flats- very cute!

Courtney & Tom decided to see each other before the ceremony, that always makes for a nice moment between the couple.

I can still smell these cupcakes. They were soooooo good.

My new logo!

 

I have been working with the Fabulous Quinn Peyser to come up with a new logo and it is finally done! I love it! Sneak Peek.

This past weekend I headed up to Maryland to second shoot two weddings for the fabulous MK McKenna. We had a wedding Saturday afternoon at Glen Echo Park in Bethesda, MD and a wedding Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Virginia at the Springfield Country Club. I had such a great time shooting with MK- please make sure you check out her blog…she already has her pictures posted from the wedding! She is my hero when it comes to blogging…she will sometimes put up a full post the same day as the event. Perhaps someday I will be able to do that:) With that said, I am still trying to get caught up from some some of my September sessions!!  Hopefully I will be able to post the full weddings soon:) If you are still waiting on pictures, they are coming…I promise!

Stephanie, Mark & Brandon

Saturday afternoon I got to hang out with yet another fun family while I was in Atlanta! What is it about Atlanta and fun families;)  I headed over to Mark & Stephanie’s house at 4pm and I got to stay until Brandon’s bedtime:) Brandon has one of the most expressive faces that I have seen on a baby…he really had me laughing a few times with his big smile! I am sure by the end of this post you too will have a big smile on your face. Stephanie, Mark & Brandon thank you for welcoming me into your home and spending your evening with me!

Brandon got so excited when he saw this brush. It was hilarious.

After playing outside we headed back to the house for some naked baby shots. The next picture may be my favorite from this shoot. I love the faces Brandon makes!

Masha, Harry & Katie

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting a fantastic new family! I headed over to their house early Saturday morning to grab a few family shots and then Masha, Katie and I headed to the park to wear Miss Katie out for her afternoon nap:) We had a great time playing on the swings, the slide and we even got a little sandbox time in! Masha, Harry & Katie thank you so much for spending your morning with me, it was so nice to meet all of you!!

I brought along one of Reece’s maracas to get Katie’s attention; it quickly became her new favorite toy.
