Carrie&Landon-2blog

Two weeks ago Carrie and Landon were married at the Graystone Presbyterian church near downtown Knoxville. When I met these two earlier this year in Savannah, I instantly fell in love with them. They are fun, easy going and completely in love. It poured during their entire engagement session (which can be seen here) and I thought we were headed for more of the same on their wedding day. Fortunately,  mother nature smiled upon these two and gave them blue skies for most of the day. Carrie & Landon I have thoroughly enjoyed the time that I have spent with the two of you! I wish you both a lifetime of laughter and love… I am 100 percent sure there will never be a shortage of either in your house. Enjoy and Congratulations!!

Carrie and Landon decided to do a first site, which allowed me to grab a few quick pictures of just the 2 of them alone. Please notice the stained glass window behind them, see no evil, hear no evil, speak kiss no evil. I didn’t realize this until after I had already taken this shot. haha

We headed over to Volunteer Landing for a few quick shots while the rest of the wedding guests arrived at the reception. I LOVE this tree and this picture.

Carrie’s dad is not only one heck of a dancer but he sings too! The picture below is Carrie’s reaction to her dad singing to her!

After her dad was done singing, the guys serenaded Carrie. You’ve lost that loving feeling!

After my early morning session with Stacy and Will, I headed over to Northern Virginia to meet up with Clare and Dave. Clare and Dave are also expecting their first baby this winter. These two were so much fun to photograph, they have a lot of fun with each other and I have no doubt they will be great parents! Clare scouted out a walking trail near their house, so we hopped on the trail and walked until we could walk no more. We were able to find so many fun spots…great scouting Clare! Congratulations to both of you and thank you fro spending your Sunday evening with me!

While Clare and Dave were getting ready I grabbed a few shots of Sascha, the cutest little dog ever! I wanted to take him home with me!

Katie&BradSP-1blog

Two weeks ago while I was up north I met up with Katie and Brad in historic Occoquan, VA, for their 1 year anniversary session. Katie and Brad are huge photography enthusiasts which made the session that much more fun! I got to talk shop while shooting, which is always fun! Katie chose the location and it couldn’t have been more perfect…Occoquan is small but has a lot to offer! We wandered around for a few hours ducking into alleyways, climbing up onto docks, walking under bridges and laying in grassy fields. Katie & Brad thank you for spending your Wednesday evening with me and most importantly Happy Anniversary!!

inge&sherif-7blog

Last Friday night, I joined the super fabulous MK McKenna to shoot Inge and Sherif’s post wedding celebration at the Westin Grand in DC. This was my first Egyptian wedding so I had no idea what to expect…let me just say…it was all that and then some! I have never seen such an eventful dance floor…the dancing was unbelievable! I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to drop my camera and jump into the nearest dance circle but that probably would have frightened the guests, so I decided to stay behind my camera and do what I do best!

Thank you MK for asking me to second shoot this special event with you and Congratulations to Inge and Sherif!!

On Saturday evening, I headed over to Old Town Alexandria for Bridget & Jeremy’s very festive engagement session…I am not even sure where to begin with these two! They had a great energy and I loved spending the evening with them! In between shooting, laughing, drinking, eating, and more shooting it was a marathon of a session and one for the record books for sure! To date, these two have the wildest proposal story and longest session! Bridget and Jeremy, thank you for spending your Saturday evening with me!! I cannot wait to shoot your wedding this fall!

After wandering around Old Town for a few horus, we headed over to Tiffany Tavern for a few drinks and dinner.

We did a little light painting since the tavern was dark. Some how I managed to blind the people at the table behind us…oops!

Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of photographing the super fun Jenkins Family Reunion held at The Preserve Resort just outside Pigeon Forge. The majority  of the pictures were formal family portraits, so I decided to post a few of the fun candid shots I was able to capture during the session. Thank you to all of the families for being so patient during the session, you all are a fun and lively bunch…I enjoyed meeting each and every one of you! Enjoy!

Cody&Casey-9blog

Last week, I attended Bryan Allen’s Location: People I workshop in Savannah, GA. The workshop was all about lighting… and of course people. Each day we learned a new lighting technique which we were supposed to apply to our field assignment for the day. On the very last day, we had a scheduled shoot and we were required to use whichever lighting we saw fit to get the job done. My partner Steve and I decided to go bare bones and shoot all natural light.

Steve and I scouted out locations at Fort Pulaski and Tybee Island ( North Beach) for almost 2 hours before the shoot. We were so excited to shoot as we had found so many cool locations…but just as I had learned earlier in the week with Carrie & Landon, things do not always work out the way you had planned. The Fort closed at 5 and we did not meet up with Cody & Casey until after 5 pm. Luckily, we found a way to get inside the gates of the National park but the actual Fort was closed…what luck! All of the locations Steve and I had scouted were inside the Fort! We decided to moved on to plan B and  stick to the exterior of the Fort and we ended up with some great shots. Thank you Cody & Casey for being such great models!! And for braving the sand gnats with us….I still have welts on my arms!! And Steve, you were an awesome partner!! I enjoyed shooting this assignment with you!

** I will be blogging the past week backwards…it will be easier that way:)

devonjames-4blog

Two weekends ago, I got to meet up with a very special couple for their anniversary session. Devon is our nanny and one of the very first people we met when we came back to Knoxville from Maryland. Devon has been invaluable to us not only as our nanny but also as a member of our family .  She has helped take care of us in sickness and in health, she has been our on call person when I was pregnant with Jocelyn and Reece and most importantly she brings joy to our household every single day that she comes over. My children absolutely adore her…as do John and I. We are so grateful to have her in our lives! I am so happy that she found someone with whom she can share her love of life! These two have such great chemistry and I really think it shows in these pictures. I had an awesome time on this shoot. Thank you for spending your afternoon with me Devon and James! Happy early Anniversary!
