Last weekend, I made my way back up to Maryland to join the rest of the fabulous gals that make up the blonde creative (Jaime Windon, Mk McKenna, & Quinn Peyser) to help photograph Honfest 2009! What is Honfest, you ask? HonFest is a local tradition in Baltimore. A Bawlmer (Baltimore for those of you that do not live in Maryland) term of endearment, Hon, short for Honey, embodies the warmth and affection bestowed upon our neighbors and visitors alike by historic working-women of Baltimore. HonFest is an annual celebration in honor of these women. The festival was created by Denise Whiting, owner of Cafe Hon and is definitely a highly anticipated event in the Hampden neighborhood in Bawlmer. People came from all over to attend this event, myself included! Here are a few of the images I was able to capture. Most of these are from the first day during the Lil Miss Hon and the Miss Honettes competitions!

i am excited to report that i am in maryland for the weekend to help celebrate and photograph honfest 2009.  we will also publicly launch the blonde creative! to find out more about this exciting festival and new artistic endeavor please follow the links to the sites below!!

honfest is an amazing festival that takes place on the streets of hampden – one of the most fabulous neighborhoods in baltimore! hampden is home to tons of inspiring artists and characters, and lots of just plain good people. the annual honfest is much more than a local tradition – it is truly an international craze! the classic baltimore (bawl-mer) term of endearment, hon (short for honey), is at the root of this exuberant celebration that honors the honest, hard-working, fun-loving women of baltimore. yeah hons!

this year i will be joining the blonde creative as we bring even more energy and excitement to the festival with an amazing booth featuring blonde photoquinnep doodles5ringsphoto and mary kate mckenna photography! in addition to all sorts of surprises and fun, there will be raffles and giveaways, and a super-fun photo booth (complete with life sized hon- doodle!) to help capture the hon in everyone!

more info to come soon – click here for more details – and we hope to see you there!
