This past week, I decided to teach my children a little bit about what I do every weekend. My two oldest children have recently asked me why people want me to take pictures of them and if they can come along.  So, I figured why not start training them! They know that my camera equipment is normally off limits so this was a great treat for them and it gave me a chance to get in front of the camera…a thing that most photographers try to avoid at all costs! I think they did a great job! Now I have 4 pictures of myself as opposed to the 1 I had before. ha!

Cade took this picture.

This past weekend, I hopped in my car again to continue what has now become, Jessi’s Great American Roadtrip! This time I was headed to Columbus, Ohio to visit Wombat, Tin and Ted (What fun are friends if you cannot create random and somewhat meaningless nicknames for them!). I absolutely love visiting college campuses, so I had to make a few stops before I got to their house – see pictures below! I had such a great time visiting my friends and the city of Columbus. They took me to all the weird and wacky landmarks around town and believe me Ohio has alot of them! If you are ever headed to Ohio, you need to pick up the book, Weird Ohio…it has some interesting information in it.

As exciting as all of the sights were the highlight of my trip was definitely meeting Ted! He is Wombat’s beautiful baby boy. He is sooooo cute! I wanted to take him home with me…he would have fit right in with my brood- blue eyes and blonde hair! Unfortunately, Wombat wouldn’t let me have him and our house is at maximum capacity:)

Thank you Wombat, Tin and Ted for spending your weekend with me…I cannot wait to visit with you all again!

I had to stop off at the University of KY, I have never been there before! I was in enemy territory though, so I didn’t stay long!

We headed over to The Ohio State University campus to find places to shoot in the afternoon on Saturday.  There were so many cool places to shoot but they will have to wait until I make another trip up in the spring or summer months because it was FREEZING outside! 22 degrees and 15 mile an hour winds didn’t feel good on these southern bones, so we headed inside to the State House.

Dust of Snow

snowdayblog

The way a crow

Shook down on me

The dust of snow

From a Hemlock tree

Has given my heart

A change of mood

And saved some part

Of a day I had rued. ~ Robert Frost

I was quite surprised this morning to wake up and see snow falling from the skies in East Tennessee. I was just telling a friend yesterday how I wanted just one day of the white stuff. Ask and you shall receive, I guess!  Jocelyn and Reece have never seen snow and Cade was probably too young to remember the last time that is snowed, so this was an exciting day for them. We spent most of the day outside catching snowflakes on our tongues and making snow angels and snowmen. Perhaps tonight I will ask to win the lottery:)

This past week, I met up with Brooke to take a few shots of her ever growing belly.  She is 31 weeks pregnant and she looks absolutely fantastic! I wish I looked that good when I was 31 weeks pregnant! Brooke was willing to do anything, which always makes for great pictures! It was absolutely freezing outside, so most of these were taken inside. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!!

I did ask for Brooke’s permission before posting these pictures. So future maternity clients, please know that I would never post bare belly pictures without your permission!

I love this green wall! This is the color of the baby’s nursery, which is very cute! Brooke and her husband hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro last year.  So, they decided to incorporate some of the photos they took on that trip and some of the art work they brought back to make a jungle animal themed nursery. It is such a cool room!
